Reducing Plastics
On March 28, 2023, the Breckenridge Town Council passed an ordinance reducing single-use plastics in Breckenridge. This ordinance seeks to comply with state regulations and meet the goals outlined in the SustainableBreck Plan passed last year.
Resource Wise Sustainable Business Program
Resource Wise is a partnership between High Country Conservation Center and TOB. Resource Wise certified businesses are reducing carbon pollution, energy use, and waste.
Buy Breckenridge Reusable Bags
In an effort to reduce the use of disposable bags, TOB produces commemorative resuable bags made of 100% recycled PET plastic that are available for purchase to Breckenridge businesses.

Merchant Ski Pass
The BTO assists the Breckenridge Ski Resort in administering merchant ski passes. Unlike individual passes, the merchant pass belongs to the business, and may be transferred once, from one employee to another employee of the same business.
Business Licensing
Anyone engaging in any business activity, occupation and enterprise in the Town of Breckenridge, including the delivery of goods purchased or contracted for outside Town limits and the rental of accommodation units on a short-term basis, is required to purchase a business license.
Liquor Licensing
Find information and applications to obtain liquor licenses for special events, new establishments, and renewals. Applicants must obtain permits both from the Town of Breckenridge and the CO Department of Revenue.
Special Event Permitting
TOB requires a special event permit whether the event is on private or public property within the Town of Breckenridge limits.
Short-Term Rental (STR) Info for Owners/Managers
Breckenridge has instituted license caps, zoning regulations, and regulatory fees for STRs in town limits.

Applicants must obtain permits both from the CO Department of Revenue and the Town of Breckenridge.
Financial Resources
Northwest Loan Fund (NFL)
The NLF often partners with banks or private lenders to fill a gap that may exist between the needs of a business and the traditional financing for which they currently qualify.
Business Foundations Technical Assistance Program
This program provides technical assistance and small grants to Colorado small businesses to help businesses legally establish themselves. Once you complete the technical assistance modules, you may be eligible for a reimbursable grant of up to $1,200 to help apply the training.
Employee Ownership Tax Credit Open for Applications
The Employee Ownership Tax Credit is now available to Colorado-headquartered businesses to cover up to 50% of a qualified business’ conversion costs for use on their state income taxes. This program provides an incentive to establish employee stock ownership plans, worker-owned cooperatives, and employee ownership trusts.
Colorado Meeting & Events Incentive Program
Provides a 10% cash rebate against eligible hard costs for hosting meetings and events in Colorado that take place on or after July 1, 2021 and on or before December 31, 2022
